Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2010

I absolutely love these pictures from the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2010 collection! I would rock every one of those outfits, they're gorgeous and all very wearable. Too bad we still have to get through the cold hard winter...
Next to my black craze my favourite colors for clothing are pale pink and lavender, so you can imagine I'm drooling over my keyboard as a madman. When spring comes, I have to find myself lookalikes of the skirt and shoes in picture 3 and the cute top with the belt in picture 4!
Because Burberry, as much as I love you, I still don't have my Visa Black card. Sahrry.

The party don't start 'till I walk in

What do you think about this FCUK dress? I'm ordering it for my birthday party! It's so fun and flirty, I love it!

Jimmy Choo for H&M

I'm not exaggerating when I say I've been looking forward to this collaboration for mónths, and I'm not being overly enthusiastic when I say I've been drooling over the collection like our shaggy chocolate coloured Labrador does when my dad's cooking ever since the first sneak peeks got out.
I think I was about thirteen years old when I 'met' Jimmy Choo. I met him through one of the best dressed people in the world, the überglamourgirl Carrie Bradshaw. I can still vividly remember the shiny, silvery sheen of the impossibly high-heeled shoes, of course made by the king of sandals. I've been dreaming of owning a pair of those absolutely droolworthy pieces of eye- and footcandy ever since.

And now, my dream is coming true.

In just 8 days obsessed budget fashionista's like myself can get ourselves a pair of these beauties that will actually be friendly to our wallets. The prices are, of course, a bit steeper than the original H&M prices, but not even close to the piles of cash Mister Choo usually demands for his leather pieces of art. Piles of cash that can buy you a new car, that is.
Known from the last series of collaborations between H&M and designers, especially our own amazing Dutch designer duo Viktor & Rolf and Roberto Cavalli, things are going to be tough in line. And no offense, but I'd like to keep both my legs and not be squished and run over by a herd of crazed and screaming shoppers. So that's why, next friday, I'm going to be curled up on my bed with my laptop and a cup of tea, to order my share of Choo at 10:00 sharp.

I really like some items from the collection a lot. Choo was smart enough to really play with the trends that have been big lately - the collection is very ladylike and pretty, but still has the rockerchick edge due to all the black and all the studs.
I might have expected a little more from the amazing Choo, but to be honest, I'm relieved that I don't absolutely love everything! My bank account wouldn't be happy with that. I think Tamara Mellon (from Jimmy Choo) did a great job though - the shoes are very much Choo, I actually thought the pictures were from the regular line! The clothing is simple but nice, I like the suède trend that's been going on but I'll be getting a cheaper one from the regular H&M line.

As for the collab - I'm going for the black cage heels that caught my eye immediately, they're drop-dead gorgeous and they've been appearing in my dreams since I saw the photo! I'm also getting one of the bracelets, they're übercute!

Missguided

No, that's not misspelled. It's actually a webshop I found out about today! It's in the style of New Look, Topshop and Miss Selfridge and they have some pretty cute things. Here are some I'd like to see hanging in my closet! I'm particularly enthusiastic about the first two, the blue peacock dress and the nautical one with the stripes, I think I'm going to order those two and maybe another thingy.

Although I should stop ordering dresses all the time... they're okay in fall because I love to pair them with leggings, boots and a cardigan or blazer, but winter is coming and I need some nice, warm knits!

Ways of love

I guess by now you can see I'm head over heels in love!
Unanswered untill this very moment though, which makes it from a beautiful, happy-sappy Hollywoodexperience into a painful and sadomasochistic torture. I'd rather play a game with Jigsaw, I'll tell you that.

Last time I said that somehow I keep torturing myself this way, by always getting unbelievable crushes on guys that don't notice me, are already taken, or start to like me when I lose all interest. That's right, sadomasochistic, I said it. I think a lot of girls can recognize themselves in it - it's pure and utter self-torture, and still we keep doing it.
When I see my guy (you know, the perfect one, the one with the girlfriend?) I get that cozy, warm feeling in my stomach, with butterflies flying around in it. The feeling you love, at least when you get to walk up to him, kiss him on the lips and ask how his day has been while he throws his arm around you, calls you honey and takes you home. But in this scenario, it's the feeling you hate when the warm feeling starts to burn you and the butterflies become suicidal when all you can manage to do is squeeze out a teary-eyed 'Hi!' and run to class very fast before the butterflies start shooting themselves.
When you're crushing on a guy when it's all good, the world is all Disney channel and apple juice. You walk around with a silly smile all day, skip instead of walk, greet strangers as if they're old friends and embrace the butterflies. When you're crushing on a guy that is taken or doesn't notice you, the world is the house of Satan and everything sunny or happy is depressing. You're likely to get paranoid, too. You check his Facebook status at least three times a day (in this context a day being an hour), try and match yourself to the model he has as his background, watch and memorize all of the movies in his favourites, and most of all, wish every girl he looks at or talks to to HELL. The pretty blonde in geography class giggling about his jokes and the sexy brunette in economy constantly touching his arm and fluttering with her eyelashes. The Asian girl with the big boobs that drops her books 'accidentily' in front of him, the redhead always smiling just too provocatively at him, even the cleaning lady that only speaks Arabian he holds the door open for - if it were up to you they should all DIE.
And you're damn right.

But still, there are those little moments you live for. The moments you think there might be a teeny, tiny possibility that he likes you too. When he gives you a wide, perfect smile that brightens up your day, or simply asks you if your test that afternoon went well or not. To help you with your obsessing and analysing, here are some things you want to take into consideration. If a guy does these following things, there's a chance he's indeed interested in you:
  • Eye contact is number one! If you catch a guy staring at you now and then he probably is interested in you. One strong flirting signal is by maintaining eye contact and when his eyes can't seem to get enough of you, he's done.
Look into his eyes a little longer than normally (not too long, unless you want to go all psycho on him) and make it seem like it costs you a lot of trouble to tear your eyes from his, like they're stuck with honey.
  • He smiles when he listens to you speaking. You're in an animated conversation and you catch him with a big grin on his face. Good sign!
  • He either obviously waits for you after class, or he starts walking slowly so you catch up to him and he can start a conversation.
  • When you talk to him, he raises his eyebrows a little and tilts his head, giving him a slightly surprised expression. This show clear interest!
  • He teases you and can't stop joking around. Teasing is a strong flirting signal! Somehow us girls like to be teased and guys happily take advantage of that. If he starts to friendly poke you it's also a good sign.

Keep this things in mind and try not to kill the butterflies yet! He's just a guy, and we all know they're a little slow. He just hasn't figured out that you're incredibly amazing and his perfect match yet, but don't worry, he'll get there!

The guy with the girlfriend

You know that guy? The one with the girlfriend? The one that is absolutely perfect and sweet and funny and smart and attractive? And has a girlfriend?
Well, I happen to have an amazing way with that guy. And by that I guess I mean I'm unconditionally and irrevocably, or possibly subconsciously, completely attracted to that guy. More than that, and what bothers/perplexes me the most, is that that guy is completely drawn to me. Or at least seems to be.

Somehow, though, I always think I am safe for guys. I'm the girl they have fun with in class, have wacky discussions with and take out for crazy nights of partying. But not DATE. Not that I am undatable. I'm not extremely unattractive, nor am I boring or mean, but somehow I've always been the girl that's 'one of the guys', although I walk around in 5 inch stiletto's.
And because I am completely naive, I don’t even notice these guys are flirting with me until long after I have left the club.
“You know that bartender was totally flirting with you,” my friend says just when we got out of the club and were walking home.
“No he wasn’t. He has a girlfriend. He told me so,” I naively replied.
"You're stupid. He was flirting with you,” my other friend chimed in.
Now why am I so oblivious to such behavior? Another symptom of low self-esteem? I thought I was well behind that! But my main question and annoying problem is: why am I so drawn to guys with girlfriends even before I know they have girlfriends? And most of the time after I know they do? Just as I think they don’t like me in any sexual way, am I attracted to the fact that they are safe? That they are taken so I really have no chance? And since I have no chance it’s okay to chat them up without worrying about getting hurt, or getting close, or getting to know them at all?

And to take that a little step further - I have had crushes on guys that were single, luckily. But the weird thing is, as soon as they showed interest in me and it got to a little more than some flirting, I lost all of mine. Every single time. It was like I got to my goal and the game was over. What is this? Is that my fear of commitment keeping me from getting involved with someone before it gets a little serious and protecting me from eventually getting hurt again?

Tell me, do you recognize yourself in some of this? What do you think about it?

Vision on clothing

"When I get dressed, I think of it as dress-up time, like the clothes are costume pieces. That's why I like vintage - it has a story behind it. I'm not afraid of walking down the street in something that people think is crazy. What I can't stand is looking like everyone else."

Mary-Kate Olsen couldn't have said it better! That's exactly how I think about clothes. What do you think about it? Do you like to dress more edgy and different from everyone, or do you like to wear something more simple and blend in with the crowd? Leave a comment!

Cobra Starship

And now for some music talk! My new favourite band has released their newest album a while ago and it absolutely ROCKS. I never like all the songs on one album, but this time I do. It's slightly fashion related too, because hit star of fashion crazes television series Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester, has recorded a single with them... Of course I'm talking about Cobra Starship!

For who's never heard of them: Cobra Starship is an American Band by former Midtown member Gabe Saporta, who continues his role as a vocalist for this band. Other members consist of guitarist Ryland Blackinton, bassist Alex Suarez, Nate Novarro on drums and Victoria Asher on keytar, all of whom provide backing vocals.

In 2006-2007 they released their first album, While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets and in 2007-2009 they worked on Viva La Cobra. On August 11 this year their new album Hot Mess with Leighton Meester came out. I got to know about this band through the single they had recorded with the Gossip Girl tv-star, and I immediately fell in love with the band, their music, and their style! (Which is seriously awesome.) I had already played the record to death when I heard the hit single for the very first time on Dutch radio yesterday and I was thrilled - finally, they're catching up on me! I love the song so much I made it into my ringtone. I highly recommend everyone ordering this album!

My favourite perfumes

When I was little I didn't understand the whole perfume-addiction my mom had. Sure, I got that she wanted to smell nice, but wasn't one bottle enough? Now, ten years later, I'm collecting more perfumes than her...

I have approximately 10-15 bottles of perfume and I'm going to post my 5 absolute favourites. As you might notice they're all floral and classic smelling fragrances, which is what suits me, my style, looks and personality the best. I have purchased some other, citrusy fresh perfumes with the intention of wearing on sunny summer days, but they just don't work for me!

These are my five favourite fragrances! Although they all have similar notes, they smell very different but just as lovely and mouthwatering.

1. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb
I can't get enough of this scent from the famous Dutch designer duo, ever! It's my all-time favourite and my signature scent. A friend of mine once said 'I knew you were coming, I could smell your perfume!' It's obviously a floral scent, hence to it's name, and I think it mostly smells like patchouli, vanilla and sandalwood. The other notes are jasmine, freesia, orchid and centiflora rose. It's a very sensual classic scent that's suitable for day and night, it's youthful and mature at the same time. You can't go wrong with it!

2. Chanel Chance

This has to be my second favourite scent. It doesn't smell at all like Flowerbomb, but it does have the same feel to it - mature but youthful, suitable for everything, and it's just as sensually sweet and spicy. The notes are mainly white musk, jasmine, hyacinth, pink pepper and amber patchouli. I love this!

3. Vera Wang Princess My third favourite is a little lighter than the previous two heavy musky scents, but I still love it a lot. Vera Wang Princess is a really girly scent, it's indeed how a fairy tail princess would smell. The notes include water lily, apple, mandarin meringue, and golden apricot skin, dark chocolate, amber, musk, and vanilla. And don't you think the bottle is adorable?

4. Gucci Envy Me

This is the muskiest scent of my list! Gucci Envy Me has a very woody base, consisting of sandalwood, musk and teakwood. The other notes include pink peony, pink pepper and water jasmine. The refined blend of lychee, pomegranate, pink musk, white tea, are an attractive heart of the fragrance. Another heavy one!

5. Lacoste Touch of Pink
And last but not least, the lightest scent of my most loved fragrances! The notes are coriander leaves, blood orange, cardamom, jasmine, violet leaves, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk. It's a very fruitful blend I like to wear on sunny days!

H&M wishlist

I'm all about the wishlists lately, haha! Well, what can I say, I'm just a greedy person... kidding. The thing is, I've been trying to reinvent my style lately, and after decluttering my closet I came to the conclusion that I need a whole lotta new clothes! And winter boots too. Yay for me having an excuse to shop, not so yay for my wallet having another heart attack...

I really like the collection H&M has online right now, but usually I'm not an H&M person. And you notice all the powdery colors? I told you that new trend was catching up on me! I nééd those cute tunics for on my new Forever 21 leather legging and jeanslegging!

Dorothy Perkins wishlist

One of my new absolutely favourite webshops is the Britain shop Dorothy Perkins. Here are some items I desperately want to get!
I'm not quite sure of the two dresses, though. I've seen Lookbookers rock floral dresses but I'm afraid I'll look like either a porcelain doll or a 10-year-old wearing it!

I have to have both shoes and the coral top though, they're absolutely gorgeous and the top could also be worn when going clubbing.

My favourite Lookbooker

I'm sure all of you know and love Lookbook! I check the site every day for the newest looks and it's the biggest source of my fashion inspiration (and greediness, I see a million things I need every time!)
There are a lot of looks and lookbookers I like and take inspiration from and who touch my personal style, but my favorite lookbooker of all has to be Chiara Ferragni. She is amazing! She's a hundred percent my style, she mixes cheap and designer, classy cute and rocker and makes a quite simple outfit look outstanding. I'm absolutely in love with every single one of her looks! I would love to trade closets with her, especially for the bags...

Top 10 It-Bags

I think it's safe to say that I am obsessed with designer bags. Honestly obsessed. I can spend hours and hours drooling all over the newest designer bags and searching for lookbookers with the bag and how they combine them. The bags I fall the most for are the so-called It Bags, a term for a single handbag style that would spread like wildfire in popularity through the intertwined worlds of fashion and celebrity, aided by clever or just plain lucky marketing. All very, very expensive.
Without further ado: The Top 10 of the It-Bags!

1. Hermès Birkin

The Hermès Birkin bag is named after the iconic actress Jane Birkin, for whom the bag was especially designed for. The 'Birkin' is the symbol of ultimate luxury, due in part to its exposure on popular television shows such as Sex and the City. An authentic Birkin'costs upwards of $6,000 and can have a waiting time of up to 2 years. A Birkin is made from either original togo leather, or exotics like python or ostrich.

2. Chanel Classic Flap

This little classic will always be in style. It was born in 1955 after Coco Chanel decided she wanted a shoulder bag to free up her hands and is inspired py the quilting on Jockeys coats. Karl Lagerfeld released a second, updated version in 2006. The Classic Flap is often confused with the 2.55 Reissue bag, which has the Mademoiselle lock when the Classic Flap has the CC-turnlock.

3. Chloé Paddington

The Chloé Paddington was created by designer Phoebe Philo in 2005 and is considered to be the quintessential 'Boho-Chic' bag because of it's slouchy, unstructured shape and exposure by stars such as Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, who are known for their bohemian sense of style. A leather Paddington typically costs around $1,500.

4. Balenciaga City

Balenciaga's line of motorcycle-inspired handbags are created out of distressed goat leather, which is what gives them their unique, relaxed shape. The City bag in particular, caused quite a stir after becoming the official handbag of choice for notorious fashionistas like Mary-Kate Olsen. The Balenciaga City bag is not available online and retails for about $1,200.

5. Marc Jacobs Stam

The Marc Jacobs 'Stam' is named after the designers close friend, Canadian Supermodel, Jessica Stam. The bag features quilting and gold hardware similar to that of classic quilted Chanel bags, but differentiates itself with it's relaxed look, gusseted frame and kiss-lock closure. Practically everyone in Hollywood has one and it retails online for around $1,300.

6. Fendi Spy

Fendi's 2006 Spy Bag is priced starting at $2,100 and is a favorite of style stars like Hilary Duff and Linda Evangelista. It's notorious status is caused partly by it's enormous waiting list, which can last up to 3 years.

7. Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30

The Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Speedy 30 is more of a mainstay classic than a trend, but that doesn't stop it from maintaining "must-have" status all year round! Jessica Simpson carries hers practically every day. It is the ideal city bag, featuring a roomy interior with natural cowhide exterior and golden hardware. Price: $690

8. Prada Gauffre

Another It-bag to hit the market is the Prada Gauffre. Victoria Beckham, Halle Berry, Beyonce and Madonna have all been photographed with theirs. It is made of Nappa leather and retails for about $1,800-2,650

9. YSL Muse

The Yves Saint Laurent Muse is a status bag of the highest quality. Crafted out of the finest embossed leather, this oversize structured tote features expertly minimalist gold hardware and is often carried by celebrities such as Katie Holmes, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss and Jessica Alba. They are often sold out and are priced starting around $1,200.

10. Alexander McQueen Novak

The Alexander McQueen Novak represents the structured shapes of Fall 2005 and was inspired by Kim Novak, a vintage-era starlet who appeared in Alfred Hitchcock films. It's original run consisted of a mere 200 bags, which caused mass hysteria among handbag lovers everywhere and elevated the bag into permanent It status!

My favourite hairproducts

Ever since I got into puberty my Dutch day-to-day motto has been 'als je haar maar goed zit', which badly translated means 'if your hair's allright'. I started caring for hair care products and fancy hairdressers before I got into fashion or makeup, at about age 11. I spent my allowance on conditioners instead of candy, and my stepmom took me to Bob Kölling for coloring.

With 6 years of experience I have kept a couple of favourites in my hair routine, products I couldn't live without anymore! So I'm going to tell you what they are and what they do.

1. Charles Worthington takeaways sun-shine shampoo and conditioner.
The first step in your hair routine - shampoo and condition! I love this shampoo and conditioner from Cherles Worthington because it makes my hair clean (no need to shampoo three times as with some) and soft and it makes it more straight. The only downside is that they come in small 1.7 oz bottles and are quite pricey for the amount you get!

2. Farouk BioSilk Silk Therapy
The second step in my routine is a serum! I've tried just about everything, from Tigi GirlToys to TOM to Andrélon to the famous John Frieda Frizz-Ease - BioSilk is without a doubt the best. As other serums can make your hair very greasy, BioSilk does not (unless you squeeze the entire tube on your head of course). This is my holy grail of hair products, it makes it visibly more shiny and gets rid of flyaways, and it will also condition your hair so it gets even softer! BioSilk can be a bit pricey but the 1.7 oz tube lasted me for months when applying a couple of drops to damp hair every day.

3. Tigi Bed Head After Party
Once my hair is dry I like using After Party smoothing cream from Tigi after straightening. I love this stuff! It smells kind of funky like sweets but it's not too overpowering after you've put it in your hair. This gets rid of the last flyaways and smooths my hair right into a celebrity hairdo! (Also, don't you think the packaging is fun? Another reason why I love Tigi!)

4. Frédéric Fekkai Protein RX
I bought this hairmask after my hairdresser absolutely fried my hair by coloring. It looked and felt horrible, but this mask really has helped to get my hair smooth and shiny again! It cost me quite a bit (about $40) but it was worth it. Massage in your hair and put some foil and a warm towel on top and leave for +- one hour for the best result!

5. Tigi Bed Head Headrush shine spray
And if after using all of those products I still don't think my hair is shiny enough, I use Headrush hairspray. It doesn't have the best results on blonde hair, but quite a bit on dark hair. I still use it because of the smell of it - you'll be sniffing your hair all day!

Powdery colors

If you know me personally, you know I love black. It's classic, it pairs with everything and I think I just look better in black. Especially with dresses - I think I have about 15 little black dresses and I still want more!

But this new trend is really catching my attention. I'm not the one for really bright colors other than in accessories, I prefer neutrals and they also suit me way better than in-your-face brightly colored clothing since I'm still a bit tan (thank you Spain!) and have light blonde hair. I can't wait to order some pretty powdery colored things! Check out Topshop for an entire page dedicated to this upcoming trend.

Oversized t-shirts

I used to hate oversized tees. I have them, sure, I love to sleep in them. My favourite shirt to sleep in is the one I got from my travel orginasation from this year's trip to Spain with a couple of my friends! But I wouldn't wear it outside. I always want everything perfectly fitted and figure-hugging, which explains why I love the bodycon trend. But how does it explain that I'm now desperately seeking for an oversized t-shirt, either plain or with a cute print? Why?

That's why. Pair it with some skinny's or a bodycon skirt, bigass sunglasses, maybe a leather jacket or boyfriend blazer, definitely the most dangerously high heels in your closet and an edgy studded bag and you're ready to rock!

Meet me

Meet me - a 17-year-old blonde fashionista, partyanimal and parttime optimist! Today, I started this blog out of boredome (because my semi-gay friend cancelled on shopping with me today, grrr) but also because I absolutely love reading other people's blogs as a source of inspiration and because I wanted to do something creative.

My name is Anne (shhh, from now on known as Blonde in Heels!) and I'm a beginning fashion addict. My favourite designers are without a doubt Balenciaga and Chloé, although I also have a weakness for Vuitton. All bad for your wallet, but oh-so lovable. My blog is going to be mainly about fashion, and I'm going to try and post looks of the day whenever I think they're worth posting, but I'm a sad excuse for a photographer so I guess I'll just have to see how that turns out! I'm also planning on posting articles about cosmetics, and little personal things I like to share.

What else can I say? I hope you enjoy!
